The Passing of the Torch...

Paul Fell and I have had the honor and pleasure of being Treasurer and Chair of the North Central Chapter for the past 4 years (give or take). After some soul-searching, we both decided that its time to move on and let others take a turn at directing the Chapter. In the coming weeks we will be sending information about nominations and elections for the two offices. We intend to announce new officers by the end of the year.

We each wrote a brief note to the membership. We thank you for being the best damn Chapter in the NCS. You make the North Central what it is.

Mike and I have decided to step aside as NCS N. Central Chapter Chair and Treasurer.

Mike is finishing a term of some 4 years as Chapter Chair. I have served as Treasurer for the same amount of time and was Chapter Chair for about 10 years before that.

Now it’s time to turn over the reins to new leadership. Both of us hope that some of you will step up to the plate and continue to maintain the North Central Chapter at the top of the NCS list when it comes to active, well-organized local chapters.

As you know, we are at a geographical disadvantage over other chapters in more populous areas. However, we seem to always be at the head of the class when it comes to chapter activities, organization, and willingness to pitch in when asked by the NCS Board.

We look forward to a new leadership team and hope that the North Central will continue as the premier local chapter in the National Cartoonists Society.

Paul Fell

As with most non-dictatorial positions, all administrations have a time span to them. The North Central Chapter has never really set one but in good conscience, it occurs to Paul Fell and myself that reason dictates that we would eventually hand the reins over to another chapter chair and treasurer. That time has come. At the Fall 2013 meeting, we announced our intention to call for nominations to elect a new chair and treasurer. The nominations will be open until the end of the year at which time we will select from the nominations your next chair and treasurer who will take over at the beginning of 2014. Their first official duties will take place at the Reuben Judging meeting.

The past four years (or whatever it’s been) have been a very sweet ride for me. I hope it will be for the next chair, as I’m sure Paul hopes it will be for the next treasurer.

My sincere thanks,
Mike Edholm
